Smoking is not permitted beyond security in either terminal at London Gatwick Airport due to UK law, which means travelers must smoke before proceeding to their flights. For those needing to smoke, both the North and South terminals have designated outdoor smoking areas located landside, outside the terminal buildings. The smoking area at the North terminal is more accessible and closer to the main terminal than its counterpart in the South terminal, although it can get quite busy. It's advisable to plan accordingly, as you will need to return through security before boarding your flight.
