Upon arriving at Ciampino Airport, you have several options for reaching the city center. The train to Ciampino railway station is a budget-friendly choice at €2.70, although it may not always run on schedule, so be prepared for potential delays. If you opt for the train, purchase your tickets in advance online or be ready to queue at the Trenitalia machines at Termini Station, while noting that paper tickets must be validated before boarding. Alternatively, the Airlink bus service is also available from the railway station, but it has been noted that the bus may not operate on a strict timetable, so factor in extra time for your journey.

Crowdsourced tips for Arrival Transit at Rome Ciampino Airport - Terminal
The train ticket was very cheap (€2.70) compared to the bus (€6.90) but, as Paul said below, it wasn't running on schedule.
One tip: if you do buy train tickets from Termini Station, make sure you arrive early and queue up at Trenitalia machines (Italo trains don't do the airport route). An even easier option is to buy tickets online.
If you do get paper tickets, even if you have to scan it at the gate, you still have to validate it at the machines located on the platform.
You can take a train to Ciampino railway station and there's a The Airlink bus (just follow the signs and path).
The bus wasn't running to the schedule and wasn't in a hurry. Once it finally did arrive we sat on it waiting for 20 minutes before it left.
I'd consider getting a bus from Termini to the airport in the future, although the train was pretty cheap.
