At Terminal 1 in Porto Airport, passengers should plan their arrival time strategically to ensure a smooth experience at the gate. The airport is small, allowing travelers to reach their gates conveniently, typically within two hours if arriving early, or even faster with only carry-on luggage. Note that if you’re traveling outside the Schengen area, be prepared for potential delays during the passport and identity checks, especially as the setup for processing Schengen and non-Schengen documents can lead to long waits. Those with Schengen passports may find that the designated line is often less crowded and can save time if approached correctly. With a strong traveler rating of 9/10, the terminal offers a generally efficient experience, but arriving with ample time is recommended for smoother transitions.

Crowdsourced tips for Time to Gates at Porto Airport - Terminal 1
The airport is very small and if you arrive at the airport two hours in advance you will be at your gate way ahead of time, 1 and half hours if you only have carry on, and 1 and 15 minutes if you have check-in bags. If you are flying to outside of Schengen area expect to be a bit delayed on the passport/identity check. Be aware that the passport checking area is not well designed: there are two lines, one for Schengen ID's and another one for all the other passports, usually there's a long line but go to the front if you have a Schengen passport or ID because is usually the case that that line is empty.
